This vertical, vibrant, and dry Riesling is defined by a saline and mineral framework carried by an acidity that penetrates the texture and serves as its backbone. The open and delicate nose evolves with citrus, tangerine, orchard flowers, and a mineral touch of graphite, highlighting the terroir's origin. In warm years, one finds fruit flesh, spruce, and hawthorn mixed with gunflint. The palate offers a lively and frank attack. The texture is taut, refined, and precise. The powdery and fresh acidity denotes a strong salinity. Flowers, citrus, salt, and rock are in unison on this beautiful terroir.
Terroir
Terroir
This is an intimate vintage because we only have three small plots located on this grand cru. This great granitic terroir is located in the commune of Turckheim and is exposed South, South-East. Its total surface area is 57 hectares and it culminates at 380 meters. The grape variety planted is mainly Riesling, which offers it a masterful voice. This terroir rests on a granite substrate, a rock composed of quartz, feldspar and mica, offering a sandy and coarse soil. Turckheim granite is composed of two micas of varying fineness. This type of subsoil has a warming effect on the roots, thus promoting good grape maturation and the combustion of malic acid. It also creates a micro-climate from the heat stored on the surface by its small stones.
Grass cover in alternate rows. Light plowing.
Winemaking
Winemaking
Harvesting is 100% by hand.
Our approach remains traditional. The grapes are pressed whole for approximately 7 hours in our pneumatic presses. Debourbage is natural. Fermentation starts spontaneously with ambient yeasts in a century-old foudre. It is followed by aging on fine lees for several months, until bottling which usually takes place in July.
Before bottling, the wine is filtered. It can be adjusted for sulfur, if necessary, at that time.

This wine is the ideal partner for fish and seafood. Refined Japanese cuisine will suit it perfectly, as will the language of salt and iodine.
